Respect - RIP Chi Cheng. This was a quick shot on his first day at the plant studio for White Pony . At least thats what he told me at the time. I had the pleasure of talking with him while we both walked right up to the main door. He was very nice, normal, genuine and very kind hearted. It was months later at a Deftones show for the White Pony tour when I saw him again. Only this time I was set up with a photo pass for the show. After running into some issues with security I located Chi in the back lot of the venue. To my surprise, Chi remembered me and kindly apologized for the mix up and introduced me to his tour manager who hooked me up with a VIP pass instead. I was then able to walk behind the venue, inside of the dressing rooms and finally onto the side of the stage and into the crowed. This story could go on much longer as I remember it vividly. I suppose my point is that the few times I met Chi he seemed so positive and upbeat almost like he himself was a ball of positive glowing energy. He seemed very balanced and to me just gave off the impression of always passing on good vibes to those who had the chance to meet him. I will carry this memory with me forever and hold his and the entire Deftones crew, family, friends and fans close to my heart. Their music is very powerful and will remain with me forever. - Respect.
